    What is the Jericho Community Development Corporation (JCDC)?

    The Jericho Selectboard created the JCDC as a public benefit, non-profit corporation established under Sec.501(c)3 of the IRS Code

    Its purpose is to foster, encourage, and assist the Selectboard in the development of projects that contribute to the economic, cultural, recreational, and environmental well-being of the community

    The sole member of JCDC is the Town

    Its directors are appointed for assigned terms by the Selectboard. 


    How will the JCDC interact with the community?

    It will seek input from the community at large and will receive public input from public meetings or surveys It will work cooperatively with Town Selectboard, Town officials and employees, the Planning Commission and the Development Review Board It will seek assistance from local and regional associations aimed at fostering economic and community development.

    What can the JCDC do?

    It will have the ability to acquire properties and enter into contracts in order to benefit the quality of life and opportunities of Jericho residents

    Examples could include facilitating the construction of varied housing stock, solar panel arrays, the creation of more town-based businesses by providing small business incubation, a community leach field, and the development of public recreational spaces and trails

    It could raise funds and use grant monies specifically awarded to it for activities consistent with its mission

    The JCDC does not have taxing authority

    It will act consistent with the goals set out in the Town’s 2016 Comprehensive Town Plan by engaging in development activities that enhance Jericho’s designated village centers while safeguarding Jericho’s rural, scenic character and way of life

    It will seek to respect wildlife habitat and corridors and wetlands

    Specific projects could support tourism and enhanced communication through the creation of a calendar that lists community-wide events.
