In the summer of 2016, the town completed a study that examined the feasibility of a variety of pedestrian improvements in the Jericho Corners area with the goal of improving connections from Lee River Road and Plains Road to the existing sidewalk infrastructure along Route 15.
In the winter of 2017, the town was awarded a grant to design and construct a sidewalk along Lee River Road to Route 15, including a crosswalk across Route 15. In February of 2018, the Selectboard reviewed conceptual plans of the sidewalk alignment along Lee River Road. There were two main options: either run the sidewalk along the north side of Lee River or along the south side. The Selectboard chose the south side. The general alignment of the sidewalk on the south side is shown below.
The crossing of Route 15 is proving to be a bit difficult given the curve in Route 15 and sight distances. In consultation with VTrans and town staff, the engineer has come up with two possible crosswalk locations. In order to move the project forward, a preferred crossing location will need to be chosen.
Survey Results
There were 74 responses to the survey. Of those responses, 39 (52.7%)people preferred the Veterans Memorial Island location while 35 (47.3%) preferred the location West of the intersection. A total of 76 individuals provided a comment about their preferred location. The results of the survey can be found in the document library on this page.

At their February 21st meeting, the project engineer will provide the Selectboard with an overview of the two crossing locations. To help inform their decision, the Selectboard will have the results of the survey that was on this page. The public is welcome to attend the meeting to ask questions or provide further input. The meeting will be at the Town Hall at 7:00 pm. The full survey results can be found in the document library on the right side of this page.
