October 26, 2018 Underhill side of Raceway. The footings are in place.
Overview
Replacement of the failed metal culvert on Raceway Road is underway. The existing 72' l x 8' h metal culvert is being replaced with a precast concrete structure that is 66' l x 38' w x 8' h. The structure was ordered in April of 2018 in order to be ready for a September delivery. The new structure is pre-cast in Maine and delivered by truck to the job site.
The structure consists of footings, which need be filled with concrete on site, on top of which sit pedestals. After the footings and pedestals are installed, 22 arches will be installed to create the span of the stream. After the footings and pedestals are in the old culvert needs to be removed and the stream bed restored. Following that work, the arches can be installed.
At this time the project is expected to be completed at the end of November. That end date can change due to weather as well as the delivery of the arches.
