Robert D3 months agoHwy Dept Proposed New Facility
Why is there no open discussion board open concerning the proposed Hwy Dept New Facility? Many questions to ask! Clearly a need for a new facility but Is there a talk of a modified Plan B? As of today I see no information of the tax increase to home owners over "X" years. How this increases current Town debt? Why propose to build a new Water Well for this new facility yards away from the old Land Fill and Dump! You need a secure water pipe line extension that can take on any increased water demand when needed.

In fairness, as of January 18, 2024, the preliminary fiscal numbers by the Town Treasurer and Select Board & the consulting firm are now public. I still advocate for a secure water pipe line should this new facility be approved! To build a Well when the Hwy Dept facilities border a Land Fill is asking for future problems! Plan ahead to have a large supply of water available from this facility if needed! Maybe minimize the proposed community / conference room space to add a small sleeping area with maybe 4-6 bunk beds? A shower is hopefully included? Is it prudent to keep the Consultant on the payroll during the entire building process? Are roof skylights practical? Limited solar? We need a "line item" look (primarily of the interior design) maybe make some modifications of what "amenities " make the most sense and looked at again? This project should be use ARPA funds as much as possible to reduce the financial debt required. No other known town proposal or project needs to be addressed more than this!

A small public parking lot (15-20 cars) behind the Post Office would make the #36 bus more attractive, provide overflow parking for the Post Office and elementary school, and might help relieve the dangerous parking situation at Palmer Lane Maple. The entrance would be on Rt 15 directly across from the JES driveway, and could double as a new entrance to the Post Office parking lot (see attached sketch), thus reducing the number of turns in that short stretch of Rt 15. The current Post Office parking entrance could then be reconfigured as a bus pulloff. Note that I'm not proposing a "park-and-ride" facility like the one in Richmond. This would be far more modest, similar in size to public lots in Westford and Starksboro.

Tbrownover 5 years agoWhat are Jericho's regulations on small-sized property structures?
I've vaguely aware that homeowners can have small structures on their property... I believe 8'x8' (or 64 sq. ft.) No? Is this a permitted use? Is it necessary to get a permit? Does it depend on the district type? Commercial vs. agriculture? Are the dimensions set -- by floor space area or the outside dimensions of the structure? Are the uses limited? Storage? Animal shelter, firewood, treehouse, etc. Anway. I should consult my regulations handbook... But this raises another question... How am I to ever master all of the text in that huge regulations book? It seems very legalistic and technical. This makes me wonder if it would be useful to have a weekly handbook study group.

I'd like to propose that a parabolic mirror be installed at this intersection.

0 comment0Robert Dover 2 years agoAllocate part of the Recovery Act Funds into Grants for Residential Water Systems upgrades and Infrastructure
Under strict guidelines and accountability , have each of the "Water Entities" that supply water for residential use, apply for Grants for upgrades for their infrastructure needs. Also a "Rainy Day Fund" for residential water systems and water pipes that connect and serve the residential area (but excluding house to street water pipe connections) THE SELECT BOARD SHOULD MEET WITH NEIGHBORHOOD RESIDENTIAL WATER SUPPLIERS (COOPS, ETC) to know what is needed for assistance.
