Town Meeting Reimagined:
As budget discussions begin this week, the Selectboard (SB) has published a calendar covering tentative dates for budget items over the next few months. Some discussions will happen at the regular SB meetings and others will be warned as public hearings. Mark your calendar for January 23rd which will be the second community-wide budget meeting. Please reach out to Paula Carrier or any of the Selectboard members if you have comments regarding budget topics. View the budget timeline here: FY26 Budget Calendar (tentative)
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee:
Jericho's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee is currently unable to meet due to a shortage of members (as per VT Open Meeting Law). If you are interested in joining the committee and helping to create a more diverse, welcoming, and equitable community please fill out the Volunteer Committee Interest Form. To read more about the work of the committee click here: jerichovt.org/diversity-equity-inclusion
Mobbs Farm Committee:
Thank you to the Mobbs Farm Committee for the work they do to maintain one of Jericho’s well-loved parks. Read what they’ve been up to on behalf of the town: https://jerichovt.org/Mobbs-Committee/news_feed/mobbs-farm-updates-fall-2024
Please consider helping at any upcoming volunteer work dates. Many hands make light work! And remember that Mobbs trails will be closed for mountain bike and equestrian use during the upcoming rifle hunting season (Nov 16- Dec 1) and any visitors and their pets should wear blaze orange during that time.
Planning Commission:
The Planning Commission (PC), guided by Chris Shaheen and our planning consultant, David White, continues their work on updating zoning for the Village Centers. The Bylaw Modernization Grant project scope (as defined in the grant agreement with VT Department of Housing and Community Development) focuses on Jericho's three designated Village Centers. Our deliberations consider the following points:
Develop amendments to simplify the Character Based Zoning overlay in Riverside
Update Village Center zones using Enabling Better Places as a guide
Create vibrant, walkable, mixed-use village centers
Align with our Town Plan and anticipated future wastewater infrastructure
The PC will continue its review/edits of the zoning through the remainder of 2024 and we plan to begin public review and public hearings regarding our proposed changes in early 2025. The Selectboard would then hold two warned public hearings prior to adopting the proposed amended zoning bylaws. For additional information, check out jerichovt.org/2024-village-center-zoning-updates
