In June 2021, Chittenden County Regional Planning initiated a collaborative effort to develop the 2022 update of the Chittenden County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan. The benefits of this planning process for Jericho (and the recommended mitigation actions) will significantly improve environmental resilience and sustainability.
IEM, an international disaster and crisis management firm, has been working with the Town Administrator's Office, Planning & Zoning and the Highway Dept. to update our local Hazard Mitigation Plan.
For this plan to have value, it must represent the current needs of each community. It is intended to be used as a tool for officials, stakeholders, and citizens. Hazard mitigation is of critical importance:
Protects public safety and prevents loss of life and injury.
Lessens impact to existing structures and future development.
Prevents damage to our community’s unique cultural, historical, and environmental assets.
We have set up this page to share most current information on this planning process as well as a place for you to weigh in on your thoughts.
