Wastewater Task Force

Bringing municipal wastewater to Riverside, one of Jericho’s designated Village Centers, is key to achieving many goals in Jericho’s Journey Forward – the town plan adopted in January 2024 - including creating dense walkable communities, more affordable housing, and diverse housing options. Recognizing that wastewater is a key ingredient for achieving these community goals, the Jericho Selectboard created the Jericho Wastewater Task Force in April of 2025. Building on the recommendations in a recently completed feasibility study, the Task Force is exploring the creation of a wastewater system in Riverside Village. Read the full document of Task Force Charge and Operating Guidelines here.

Meetings are held at Town Hall and via Zoom at 6:30 pm on the first Wednesday of each month. The Zoom link will be posted in the agenda.

Email any public comments for the task force prior to the meeting to Kate McCarthy, Senior Planner, at kmccarthy@ccrpcvt.org.

  • Municipal Wastewater - Preliminary Engineering Report (PER)

On Thursday, October 16th the Selectboard will consider approving financing for a Preliminary Engineering Report (PER) which will help us understand how a municipal wastewater system in the Riverside Flats area could be accomplished. The PER will provide estimated construction costs, funding options available to the town, suitable locations for system components, connection options, and other important details, to help Jericho decide if this project should be pursued.
The PER is the next step in a process the Selectboard started with a Feasibility Study that was completed in Spring 2025. The PER should be complete by Spring 2026. The PER will be a public process to help Jericho understand options, make informed decisions about local investments, meet state requirements for future funding, and preserve our town’s choices into the future.

The Jericho Selectboard is exploring the possible municipal wastewater project in Riverside. We have established the Wastewater Task Force and now have two interns, Cam and Finley, working with us this summer on education and community outreach. We want to hear from you! We’re gathering community input on the proposed municipal wastewater project in Riverside. Please take a few minutes to complete our community survey. Your feedback is essential and will help shape the next steps of the project. This week, you can also connect with our two interns in person to learn more, ask questions, and fill out the survey:

Thursday 7/10, 3–5 pm at the Jericho Farmers Market

Friday 7/11, 10 am–12 pm at the Jericho Market

They’ll be handing out FAQ sheets and collecting survey responses on-site. Stay tuned for more outreach opportunities!
