Town Plan 2024

"If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together" ~ African proverb

A community develops a Town Plan in order to establish a set of goals and expectations for how the community will grow and evolve over time. It sets the framework for land use and development regulations (ie. typically zoning and subdivision regulations), and forms the basis for future public and private investment.

Jericho’s current Town Plan was originally created and adopted in 2016 and amended in 2020 to include a new chapter on energy use and production. Pursuant to state statute, it will expire in 2024 and therefore needs to be reviewed, revised and adopted anew reflecting the current trends, needs, and desires of the community.

This page is being offered to help give you access to the latest information about the process to update the Jericho Town Plan, and help you find ways where you can be involved in providing your input and feedback.

Thank you for your interest, and please keep coming back to see what's new!

  • Survey Summaries for Housing QOM

The February/March Question of the Month focused on housing-types in the recommended growth areas in Jericho. Respondents ranked each housing type for a specific area - Jericho Corners, Jericho Center, and Riverside. The housing types are currently under represented in Jericho's housing choices. We did not include large single-family homes, duplexes, or ADUs among the options because those housing types are abundant and/or supported with current zoning regulations.

Question 1: What BROUGHT you to Jericho?

Jericho's location close to Burlington, high quality schools, the ability to find a house, and the rural character were most frequently mentioned as what brought people to Jericho. Family ties and outdoor recreation opportunities were also popular answers.

Question 2: What KEEPS you in Jericho?

Jericho's community/neighbors, convenient location, and natural areas were most frequently mentioned as what keeps people in Jericho. Schools, natural areas and having made a home here were also mentioned multiple times.

Question 3: What would make you LEAVE Jericho?

Responses to this question were very diverse but most frequently mentioned were an increase in taxes, overdevelopment and being unable to age in place.
