The Planning Commission has embarked on a series of walking tours in the summer of 2022 through each of the village centers to learn more about each from fellow town residents. The Jericho Center walk occurred in June and Riverside was in July.
The Jericho Corners walk was on July 20, 2022. The walking tour will included a stop by Jericho Corners' own Lucy & Howe Brewery for a tour and sampling of their fine beers. Ideas gathered from the July 20 walk are posted here. Ideas gathered from the other walks are posted on their project pages.
This page is designed to help continue the conversation, started on the walk, about the unique character of Jericho Corners. We have enabled some interactive tools below to help us in this conversation.

All three of Jericho's Village Centers are designated village centers through the State of Vermont and all are located within the Village Center Zoning District. Jericho Corners was the Jericho's first designated village center, designated in 2003. Click on this image to see the borders in a larger format. |
The town has been discussing how each of the village centers are unique and perhaps should be considered differently when it comes to future development.
For example, the topography, current density, and lack of public sewer place constraints on future development in Jericho Corners. Additionally, any commercial use or residential growth should be modest in scope and should be compatible with the historic Village character and neighboring parcels.

Shared by a friend of Jericho Corners: I was looking up some of my old materials concerning traffic calming in Jericho Corners to make it more pedestrian friendly. I think this would be good not only for locals, but also tourists who, for example, want to go eat at JCAT after visiting Old Red Mill but won’t take their life in their hands by crossing Rte 15. These were some of my ideas: - More trees and landscaping along road - Gateway treatment - Attractive signage. - Entry portals - Speed tables - Raised crossings - Pedestrian crossing - Speed bumps - Pavement material and appearance at crosswalks - Different color - Different surface - Highlight crossing areas
