Green Mountain Passport Day - May 20
CLOSED: This discussion has concluded.Green Mountain Passport Day at Jericho Town Hall
Thursday May 20th we will be outside the Town Hall (67 Vermont Route 15) to issue Green Mountain Passports to Jericho Residents from 9am to 4pm. No appointment needed. The cost is $2 and the passport is good for lifetime. You must be 62 years old and a resident of Vermont or a Veteran to be eligible for the Green Mountain Passport. This Green Mountain Passport allows for free admission to State Parks and State sponsored events for a lifetime.
If you applied for a Green Mountain Passport from Jericho in the past but have lost the card or it went through the wash. We can re-issue a replacement card to you at no cost. We have a file of past applications.
You need to come in person and you need to bring your Vermont Driver’s License. You need to swear under oath that you are 62 or older and a resident of Jericho, Vermont. For Veterans, there should be a Veteran designation on your Vermont Driver’s License. Thank you to those of you who asked about the program this winter but opted to wait until nicer weather. We look forward to seeing you outside the Jericho Town Hall on Thursday May 20th 9am to 4pm. I believe the State Parks will start charging admission Memorial Day Weekend.

- Temporary Officiants (the Vermont Secretary of State’s website)
- Getting Married in Vermont
- Civil Marriage License Application Effective July 1, 2023, the cost of a marriage license has increased to $80. If you have an older version of the form, you can still use it but know that the price has changed from $60 to $80.
- You must personally hand deliver the application, it must be signed by both parties. Only one party needs to bring it to the Jericho Town Clerk Office and you must provide a government issued picture ID. (Drivers License or passport). Of course you are both welcome to come.
- Once the license is issued it is valid for 60 days and must be signed by at least one individual in the presence of the Town Clerk.
- Vermont residents must apply for the license within the town in which you reside. Out of state residents may apply for the license from any town clerk in the state. Our office is able to issue the license at the time of application. You may request a certified copy of your marriage license when you apply for your license.
- Application for a certified copy of marriage or civil union license
Marriage licenses are issued by appointment. You will both need to sign the marriage license application but only one of you needs to come in person to the appointment. (You both are welcome to come though.) You can call or email the Jericho Town Clerk's Office to set up an appointment. Ask to speak with Megan or Jessica. The cost is $80 and you can prepay and additional $10 for a certified copy of the marriage certificate to be mailed to you once it is recorded. Bring a check or cash for $90 payable to the Town of Jericho to your appointment. Click here for answers to frequently asked questions about civil marriage licenses.
If you live in Jericho and are getting married in Vermont then you may have the license issued from any Vermont Town Clerk Office but it make sense to have it issued from the Jericho Town Clerk Office. If you are both from out of State but getting married in Vermont, then you can get the marriage license in any Vermont Town Clerk Office.
If Jericho residents are needing to set up a time outside of office hours please call to see what we can do for you. Marriage licenses can be issued in a 60 day window before the planned ceremony.
Certified Copies of Birth and Death Records
Certified Copies of Birth and Death Records (click the blue text to dowload the application)
Since July 1, 2019, certified copies are issued through a website hosted by the Vermont Department of Health. This application can be used at any participating town clerk office to request a certificate for an event that occurred in any Vermont town. The cost of a certified copy of a vital record is $10. The advantage of this is you can go to a Town Clerk Office that is most convenient for you. The disadvantage is that the program often has glitches and I may not be able to print the certified copy the day the application is received. I need the completed application in order to request the certified copy through the program. As if January 12th, 2022 the current best practice is that you submit a completed application, along with a photocopy of your driver's license and either mail to Town of Jericho, PO Box 67, Jericho, VT 05465 and I will call you to pick up the certified copy when it is ready. You can also drop completed applications with a $10 check payable to "Town of Jericho" in the drop box in front of the Jericho Town Hall. If you bring the application to the office in person, I will only need to look at your driver's license and will try to make the copy while you wait. The cost of a certified copy is $10. If for some reason, the blue text does not link you to the application document, you can also find it from the home page 1. scroll to the bottom of the home page, 2. click on "Town Documents", 3. under the first item "Clerk Documents", 4. click on "Application for a Birth or Death Record". You will see on the application that birth and death records are only available to certain types of family members and legal representatives.
You can also order vital records on-line through the Vermont State Archives if you wish to pay by credit card. The fee through the State is $12 instead of $10.

Other Services for Jericho Residents
Notary Services for Jericho residents can be done by appointment only. Call ahead so that I can discuss what type of document needs to be notarized. I am being discretionary about the types of documents that I am comfortable notarizing. If the document needs additional witnesses then you will need to bring them with you. Types of documents that I am not comfortable notarizing include Powers of Attorney, Mortgage Deeds or any document that does not contain the standard language in the notary acknowledgement section. Notaries may also be found at a bank that knows you, an attorney, a realtor or some businesses provide notary services. |
Green Mountain Passport, a Vermont State Park Visitor's Pass Discount Program for seniors and veterans, can be issued during normal business hours. If you fill out the application ahead of time, bring it with your driver's license and a $2 fee. Click HERE to find out more about the passport. The Jericho Town Clerk Office is only able to issue Green Mountain Passports to Jericho Residents Only. Other Vermont residents need to go to the Town Clerk Office in their own Town of residence for a Green Mountain Passport.
